The MOBO Awards stands for "Music of Black Origin" and was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. The MOBO Award show is held annually in the United Kingdom to recognise artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
The 2017 MOBO Award was recently held and Nigerian music superstars shone bright at the event. Starboy, Wizkid beat off strong competition from Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar to claim the award for best international artist. His contemporary, Davido claimed the award for Best African act.
